Moxie Cycling Jersey Review & Giveaway

If you're a female cyclist like me, you can attest to the fact that most cycling clothes available to women fall into one of the following categories:
  1. snooze-fest
  2. covered with twirly whirly flowers, rainbows, and/or butterflies
  3. unattractive
  4. uncomfortable
  5. ridiculously expensive
Since I've been spending more time in the saddle recently, I've been in search for some more cycling apparel that meets none of the above criteria. It's a lot harder than you'd think. But I'm happy to say that I've found a beautiful jersey to add to my rotation...the Jester jersey made by Moxie Cycling.

I stumbled across the Moxie Cycling website about a year ago and my first thought was, Those are adorable, but a built-in shelf bra? Bummer...no thanks! Most tops with built-in bras just don't work for me. I end up wearing a real sports bra under it either due to a lack of support or a lack of headlight hiders padding. But I read that the built-in bra in these jerseys was actually functional, so I thought I'd give it a try...and I'm so glad I did!

The first thing I noticed about this jersey is the high-quality feel of it. The fabric is super slick, very similar to a bathing suit, which makes this jersey extremely comfortable. It's also tag-less, so there's no "itchy" feel about the jersey at all.

The length of the jersey is absolutely perfect. I'm a short person, but sometimes I still have problems with tops being too short on me. The jersey is long enough that you don't have to worry about showing your backside to the world when you're riding in the drops. There's also no elastic around the bottom, which adds to the comfort factor and prevents it from riding up. No more tugging your jersey back down!

The cut of the jersey is also great. It's supportive where it needs to be, yet it isn't too clingy or tight around the midsection. Sometimes standard cycling jerseys give me that boxy/frumpy/unfeminine look, like I don't have any curves or shoulders...but that is definitely not the case with these jerseys!

Speaking of curves, as I've already mentioned, Moxie Cycling jerseys have a really awesome built-in bra that comes with removable cup pads. The bra is extremely supportive so you don't have to worry about what might happen on bumpy terrain. I haven't run in this top, but I'd say it might even be supportive enough for a run, too.

wear 'em if ya want...or don't!

Just like a standard cycling jersey, Moxie Cycling jerseys have 3 back pockets that are deep enough to bring along everything you need for your ride...banana, cell phone, extra water bottle, chews/gels, cookies, you name it!

There are currently three different styles of jerseys to choose from: T-Back (what I have), Ruched, and Sweetheart. Each style has a few different designs to choose from, too. Trust me, you'll have a hard time picking one out because they are all so cute!

The Retropolitan jersey in the Sweetheart style (left) and the Jakarta jersey in the Ruched style (right).
These two styles have a more traditional racer-back design in the back vs. the T-Back.

For the purposes of a completely honest review, I first purchased the Jakarta jersey, which is one of the Ruched style jerseys, and is different from the T-Back style Jester jersey I ended up with. The Jakarta was adorable, but the style just didn't work for my body type. It fit in the bust, but was too loose in the midsection and I didn't think it looked that great on me (fit-wise). A smaller size may have worked for me but I was afraid it would be too tight in the bust. But I will say that I have seen several pictures of women wearing that style of jersey, and it looks awesome on them! So with that said, follow the size charts and know that the styles fit differently. If one style doesn't work for you, the other one might!

So let's talk price... in my opinion, the price of these jerseys is right on par, if not priced lower, than other jerseys of similar quality. The T-Back style is $58, while the Sweetheart and Ruched styles are $65. If you've bought a nice cycling jersey before, you'll agree that this is a fair price. And considering the great quality of these jerseys, it's a good investment to make because you'll definitely get a lot of miles out of it.

Moxie Cycling is actually having an end of season sale right now, and most of their jerseys are 25% off! That's $48.75 for the Sweetheart and Ruched styles, and just $43.50 for the T-Back style (not all jerseys are on sale and they must be in stock). I'm not really sure how long this sale lasts though so you'd better just go ahead and order one now ;)

The ladies at Moxie Cycling have been kind enough to offer a free jersey to a lucky blog reader. It's pretty easy to enter...just follow the Rafflecopter instructions below. The giveaway ends at midnight on September 16th. Good luck!

I was not paid or asked to do this review. All opinions expressed are my own. I purchased my own jersey, and Moxie Cycling is offering a "giveaway" jersey at no cost to me (or you!).
